Premier jour du WPTDeepStacks Johannesbourg Main Event has come to an end after eight levels of poker drew in a crowd of 327 entrées.
The WPTDeepStacks returned to one of its most popular stops as Casino du palais des empereurs played host and welcomed some familiar and new faces to the event, all with the hope of taking down the title over the three-day event.
Among those who will be returning for Day 2 is Adam Martinsson who turned his 30,000 pile de départ dans un très impressionnant 216,000. Defending champion Abdoul Essa has put himself right in contention of reclaiming his title after he progressed with 190,700. Regular tournament player and three-time WPT event champion George Levine also bagged big with 153,000.
Joe Abreau, who eliminated three players in a single hand when he hit a full house on the river with ace-queen, will return with 145,000 alongside professional player and presenter Maria Ho (122,000), former WPTDeepStacks Johannesburg Super High Roller champion Muaaz Gani (110,000) et Ahmed Karrim (64,100).
L'action reprendra à 12:30 local time on Saturday, October, 13 with levels reverting from 40-minutes to 60-minutes. The late registration period will remain open until one hour after the start of play.
