- We're almost at our first break of the day, and we still haven't shot our first star. Twenty-five entered, the tables have condensed, and twenty-five still remain. According to Tournament Director Matt Savage, we'd lost eight stars by the first break a year ago.
- A few of the players have started complaining about the lack of star-power at their table. Phil Hellmuth, typical of his flare, was a no-show in the first two levels. This wasn't a tactic aimed at saving himself so much as something he always does. That hasn't kept the players from letting us hear abou it though.
"We were promised a shooting star!" one player complained to me, only half-kidding. I imagine that when Phil gets here, the complaints will become about something else.
